It's official. I accepted a new job offer last week. I'll be starting at a new startup named MOVL next week!
I'm excited. I'll finally be working on Android (and other related mobile and web stuff, including iPhone/iOS) full time and for reals. Normally a career move might not warrant a post here on TotSP, but I felt like this time it made sense. It's a story of side work, interest, blogging, and winding up with a new job because of it.

As many of you know, a recent fork of Nagios has been announced, accompanied with a flurry of activity in both the community and press. An email thread titled “Nagios is dead! Long live Icinga!†began last week on the nagios-devel mailing list to kick this off.
What are my thoughts on this announcement? I think it’s one of the best things to ever happen to Nagios.
Why? The announcement of the fork, along with the community’s reaction to it has brought to light several things:

So I have been struggling with this topic of the banking system problems. For YEARS I have understood that we have been inactive to our own detriment, but it seems to me we are not addressing the real problems. This is going to be a bit rambling.

A bit depressing that an investment group has decided to pump $100M-USD into SCO.
Hopefully SNCP (the company doing the investing) managing partner Stephen Norris is not completely full of crap when he states: "We saw a tremendous investment opportunity in SCO and its vast range of products and services, including many new innovations ready or soon to be ready to be released into the marketplace."

Sources at Yahoo tell me that Microsoft made its most recent overtures right after Yahoo announced its earnings Tuesday and then told Yahoo execs they had two days to respond or Microsoft would go public with the offer. When Yahoo balked at the heavy-handed tactic, guess what?

On 9/21 I called for service on my dryer purchased at Best Buy. I was busy on mon. 9/24, (my bad, sorry I had a previous apt. that couldn't be broken) so I made my apt. for wed.9/26. When I made my apt. I was very specific as to what was wrong with the dryer as well as make & model of appliance.

We recommend what makes us the most cash. (The stuff you need eighteen people on staff for 2 years to "integrate.")
Gotta handle the due diligence for the enterprise across the verticals, right? Ars has an overview of a recent Burton Group report that recommends against Google Apps.

I hate the RIAA, not a revelation but more reason why: How the RIAA views its customers: completely untrustworthy.
