According to a press release from Alcatel, their new product, the Speed Touch 350i, is a full rate Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) modem, which supports data rates of up to 8 Mb/s downstream and 1 Mb/s upstream over standard ISDN lines. It is not clear if this new technology will affect the distance limitations of ADSL. The immediate effect would probably be faster DSL deployement in Europe and other countries where ISDN is the only available option. Thanks to DSLreports.com for the story.
