According to News.com, AMD has stepped up the release date for their 1-GHz Athlon processor to Monday, in order to overshadow Intel\'s Wednesday release of thier PIII 1-GHz (Can I say I have an Athlon/1000?). The story says that this will be an easier move for AMD than for Intel. Thier Athlon architecture is almost 6 months newer than that of the PIII, and it has alot more growing room. While anticipated release dates can always differ from actual release dates, next week should still be pretty exciting for the PC hardware world.   News.com story
