I can only hope Georgia is spared this ignominy:
Reed to Run for Office in Georgia Ralph Reed "plans to seek the lieutenant governorship of Georgia," the Washington Times reports. Associates say Reed, 43, "hopes to use the lieutenant governor's job to position himself to run for Georgia governor. Friends also say the Atlanta-based consultant's long-held ambition is ultimately to win for himself the Republican presidential nomination that, as a campaign adviser, he has helped others to seek." Says one Reed associate: "Some political operatives are content to be the political teachers, to show people how to run their campaigns -- others, like Reed, have been there and done that. They itch to be the candidate, to hold the office."Update: Well, we still aren't Alabama, I guess.
Political Wire: In Alabama, Poll Finds Moore Leading Riley: "In Alabama, Poll Finds Moore Leading Riley A Mobile Register poll shows ousted state Supreme Court Justice Roy Moore (R) leading Gov. Bob Riley (R) in the race for the 2006 Republican gubernatorial nomination. The poll of Republican primary voters finds Moore 'with a lead of 8 percentage points over Riley in a hypothetical primary matchup. Moore drew support from 43 percent of respondents, while the governor garnered 35 percent.'"
