Disney completes Infoseek buy

In case you have been living under a rock lately and haven't noticed that everything is part of "The GO Network", let me mention that Infoseek is now part of GO.In a whopping $7 billion USD deal for a company valued at $3.5 billion USD in real market cap, Disney shows that they intend to own the whole world. Here is their meaningless business spew:
"Clearly we will leverage the offline programming and properties," he said. "We will also integrate the verticals more fully."
In related news, Time-Warner is expected to introduce their new online content offerings today. Time-Warner was the originator of the now defunct (and rightfully so) Pathfinder site, in which they tried to leverage all of their branding into a single system. (Hmmm. Smells of the Go Network doesn't it?) Hopefully Ted Turner has brought some of his web savvy crew into this this time around. Maybe they can replicate the success of the Turner brands online ventures (CNN[SI/FN].com, CartoonNetwork.com, WCW Wrestling, and of course MONSTERVISION WITH JOE BOB BRIGGS)
