This is pretty damn funny. Jon Stewart was on the "Factor" a while back with Bill O'Reilly and at the time O'Reilly stated that it was "scary" that the Daily Show had an impact. He also said it was "stoned slackers" watching the show.
So the Daily Show folks went to Nielsen and said, lets see the numbers. Turns out according to Nielsen those that watch the Daily Show are more likely to have completed four years of college (more likely than "Factor" watchers, insert joke here). In addition Annenberg studies (the FactCheck people) have shown that Daily Show watchers are more likely to answer political questions correctly.
If you actually WATCH the Daily Show you will note that its very well written and makes some pretty profound indictments of the American political game. The skits are often waaay over the top and sometimes absurd but they often make very valid if less than subtle or well manicured points. Its SUPPOSED to be funny, that doesnt mean its dumb.
See the linked MSNBC article for more details. Stoned slackers watch Jon Stewart?
