Netscape continues stupidity and WONT block pop ups: news.com

I guess Netscape will never catch on. After releasing Netscape 6 WAY too early over the outcry of the developers who said "uh, dont do that yet" and then adding a bunch of very silly "features" to it such as AOL crap everywhere and the "Netscape Network" that tries to FORCE you to sign up to get the "extra features" every time you use it they have now decided NOT to include the Mozilla feature that blocks pop up ads in upcoming 7.0.

Totally stupid.

Now dont get me wrong, I understand that Netscape is a commercial company owned by AOL and that they want revenue, etc? However, it seems to me that they are missing the point that NO ONE USES THEIR BROWSER BECAUSE OF ALL THIS ANNOYING SHIT AND THEN IT WONT MATTER WHAT THEY DO WITH IT. When it sucks and it crashes (as 6.x did until 6.2 when Moz 1.0 was the base, not Milestone 16 being released as Netscape crap) and has extra annoying "features" added in and has all the good features removed who is going to use it? If no one USES it then it defeats their purpose of allowing pop ups, etc anyway!

Netscape needs to work on its image as a reliable valuable browser with features users WANT and forget about spamming people with pop ups and constant AOL crap.

This goes to the bigger issue of "features" like pop up ads and forced signup "networks". Companies in general need to realize this makes people more ANNOYED at the Internet in general and THEIR company and does not HELP the bottom line. Netscape/AOL should be on the forefront and decide as a company NOT TO USE OR SUPPORT POP UP ADS, rather than going the other way and not allowing their browser to block them.

The same applies for issues like PVRs and skipping ads. Companies that proclaim that is illegal and whine about it are stupid. I NEVER watch advertisements even on TV, PVR or not, unless they compel me to do so because they are cool, forcing people to watch ANNOYING ads is NOT the correct approach. Companies are, IMHO, totally missing the point that customers should VALUE their services and WANT their services and not be FORCED to accept their services. Customers will find a way to block it, skip it, get around it if they dont like it, just save yourself the trouble and get a few customers that LIKE your company in the process.

I know their fake revenue model is heavily Internet advertising weighted, but they need to get over that and get on with life. Sell services customers WANT and advertise in a REASONABLE way. Its not enough that we put up with banners that flash screaming monkeys on the top, left, right and bottom of the screen we are looking at, we also have to have pop ups?

Again, stupid by Netscape, another nail in the coffin. Get Mozilla, use Mozilla, block pop up ads, have no AOL crap, support web standards, get on with life.   Dodging pop-ups with Mozilla: news.com
