The Human DNA code has been "cracked." Three billion "letters" have been processed and 95% of the code is mapped (the mapped code is then sequenced, even though we have the map, there is still work to be done, the meaning of the majority of the map is still unclear.) This is an enormous achievement being compared to the splitting of the atom, the invention of the printing press, the first space travel and more. When you stop and consider it; it actually is much more significant than any of the other aforementioned discoveries and inventions. This achievement and continued understanding of genetics has and is still leading to an entirely new type of medicine that may one day cure disease at an alarming rate. This is truly a new era.
