LiteStep is a shell replacement and for all intensive purposes a window manager for Windows. It is designed for 9x and NT and is intended to provide the AFTERstep "look and feel." It is very impressive. There is a basic shell package and there are also modules for many functions.
My take on it is that it is a great tool if you put a little time into it to customize things as you want (sorta like emacs ;) It is still BETA stuff, but works very solidly and if you add the theme and modules you want it can make using your windoze box much more bearable (of course your OS is still full of bugs, leaks memory, is insecure and has to be rebooted every 5 minutes every time you change something, but it looks cooler, jab jab.)
Be forewarned if you use it that you need to know what you are doing. Changing your WIndows shell from the default of explorer is not that big of a deal, and is easily put back to stock, but it can get confusing and you can end up with a blank screen machine. No data is affected or even jeopardized, but it can be frustrating for those who cant figure out how to get back to their stuff. (Note that there are also some add ons that allow you to switch shells on the fly.)
Check out LiteStep, very cool thing.
