Scope out this c|net news.com story: Linux as the Pizza platform. Linux is making further inroads into the business world, and why not it makes total sense, TCO, stability and performance do matter. A company named MaxSpeed supplies a great deal of POS hardware to many other well known companies. MaxSpeed is going Linux. Ergo propter hoc, these MaxSpeed customer companies may soon run a Linux based POS: Goodyear, CVS, Harley Davidson and Little Ceasars. Also, check out the card MaxSpeed sells that allows two simultaneous users to utilize a Linux system. The +one card is intended for multiple POS users to a single server (I guess no other terminal device, otherwise this card would have trouble competing with the likes of Telnet, much less other tools.)
