Two of the best distros have just released new revs. RedHat 6.1 and SuSE 6.2 respectively.
Although these are both Linux flavors the twist on each is a little different. RedHat is the dominant US Linux distro and concentrates on maximum installation and usage ease and packing many programs into the default install. SuSE focuses on just what the user chooses and is more difficult to install (although still pretty much cake with YaST.) SuSE is in my opinion a better distro for experienced users and conversely Redhat is better for intro users.
Both are GREAT products whichever you choose (I am not trying to start a pissing contest, these are both fully capable fantastic distros.) There are still a few areas of Linux that are frustrating but with each rev, as these guys prove, things are getting much better.
RedHat 6.1 is kernel 2.2.12 and SuSe 6.2 is kernel 2.2.10. Both are glibc and both have Xfree86,KDE, StarOffice, Apache and the other standard stuff that makes Linux great. SuSE also has VmWare (unregistered, but a good move.)
Check both of these flavors out at the upcoming Atlanta Linux Showcase.
