http://www.cultdeadcow.com">cDc is demanding Microsoft recall its "mailicous" an "illegitimate" software program, SMS (Systems Management Server.)The allegations are quite sound if you read the declaration. It seems that Microsoft has taken a VERY strong stance that BO2K is a hackers tool and should only be considered malicous and dangerous. Microsoft also recommends that virus software makers include a signature of BO2K to eliminate it. One exact feature that Microsoft has chosen to argue is the issue.Microsoft states that B02K is a "remote control program" and that there are legitimate remote control programs around, but this one is not legitimate because it has a "stealth" feature that allows it to be installed so that the host computer is not aware of the remote observerance or control. Microsoft is very clear and very adamant on this point, check their own statement.Well after all of that huffing about B02K being "malicious" and "illegitimate" it turns out that SMS has the same feature.Imagine that, Microsoft tripping over their own #$@!&. SMS has the feature according to Microsoft because of customer demand and to make it "flexible." Check the Microsoft tech details on SMS, it clearly defines undetected remote "management." Well is it "malicious" or "management?!" Hypocrisy abounds on this one and the guys at cDc have a point. If B02K deserves to be called "illigetimate" and have virus signatures circulated, than so does SMS by Microsofts own definition. Conclusion, Microsoft get a clue.
