Take a look at the link to view the Graphon and Corel press release. Corel Linux has struck a deal with Graphon to provide their "Bridges" software to the Corel Linux OS platform. This software is Citrix like and enables machines with UNIX or Linux or Windows to run Windows or UNIX server based based apps. This is some great sounding software and they claim that it is much less expensive than Citrix (which is enormously expensive.) This is a fantastic thing. This will empower users to pick from a wider variety of desktops (Corel Linux) because the contigency to run Windows apps does not rest on the desktop. It will also allow for a much better managed environment by centrally running and maintaining apps. Note that this approach also makes installs, upgrades, deployment and access much more efficient. All users can get to whatever applications you "publish" from any platform. Incredible stuff.Citrix can do all of this too. There are Citrix clients for Linux (that I use to run the network at the shop I work in, I use all NT and Novell management tools from my Linux Xwin desktop as published apps within Citrix running from a Terminal Server.) However, this approach gets almost ridiculously expensive. Citrix and Microsoft BOTH stick it to their customers requiring mega expensive server licenses and CALs out the wazoo. I do not all of the details here, and have not used GraphOn, but if this product offers similar functionality at a reasonable cost, well, forget about it, as they say.Check out the Graphon Products page for details on the offerings.
